Like reading or talking about books?
Have you ever considered starting or belonging to a book club?

Book Clubs / Reading Groups / Book Chats are all great ways of finding out a bit more about a book, having really interesting discussions, getting recommendations for something great to read and basically having fun with a group of friends.

What is a Book Club?

A Book Club or Reading Group is a group of people who all read the same book at the same time, and then get together to discuss it. A group leader will often help guide the group with reading notes and questions to consider. Meetings can be as casual or formal as you like, and can be located anywhere from the library to home to the local cafe.

What is a Book Chat?

A Book chat is a group of people who get together to discuss what they are currently reading. This is a great way to share some of your favourite books with other people, and also get recommendations for something else you might enjoy reading.

Starting a Book Group:

Got your group of friends together and ready to start?

  • Contact your local branch library and register your group.
  • Confirm a day, time and location for the group.
  • Advise who the group leader will be and their contact details.
  • Get a copy of the current book club sets list and pick your books.
  • Get together and have fun!

Joining a Book Group:

Like to join an existing book group? - Check out the current Book Clubs and Book Chats that the library hosts.
