WRLC Library Collections

The Wimmera Regional Library provides a wide range of library products for children, teenagers and adults. Picutre books, music CDs, the latest bestsellers, magazines - all this and more can be obtained from your local branch library.

Fiction - Junior & Adult

The Library provides an expansive collection of fiction that includes the works of leading contemporary writers as well as a selection of classic fiction. Australian writing is given prominence, especially in the children's and teenage collections.

Non-Fiction

The library aims to provide a collection of ample range and depth of subject coverage. It is intended to provide recreational, educational and informational materials at levels suitable for all members of the community. The collection provides a supporting role for formal education.

It is not Library policy to provide specific text books required for a particular course of study. However, some textbooks are included in the collection if they are the best authority available on the subject and are of an appropriate level and cost for inclusion in a public library collection.

Reference

All branches hold a range of Reference material, including encyclopaedias, atlases, dictionaries and material from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The main Reference Collection for the region is held at the Horsham Branch.

Large Print

The Large Print collection features mainly adult fiction material, plus a small range of adult non-fiction which is shelved with the adult fiction large print.

There is a small selection of junior large print material available.

Talking Books

The Library has an extensive range of Talking Books, covering material for both adults and children. Materials are in either audio cassette or CD format.

Music CDs

A growing collection of Music CDs are available from all branches - the collection includes jazz, classical, blues, and country as well as many popular modern performers and rock groups.

DVDs & Videos

The WRLC's video & DVD collection covers a wide range of subjects, and includes both recreational and educational materials. There is also a range of children's videos available.

Periodicals

The Library has a small collection of general interest magazines and periodicals. Local newspapers are available to each branch. Microfilm collections of some back-copies of local newspapers are also held. Check the catalogue for details.
